AP Energy was founded in the year 2004 by Dr. Shekhar Shukla. Over the past 20 years the company has enabled numerous customers in making transactions with better risk/reward while avoiding unattractive ones, as well as making managing risk in their portfolios effectively. It has provided its proprietary software for valuation and risk management and provided consultancy services to clients, including development of customized analysis tools and software.

The list of clients includes:

IOWN Renewable Energy, PG&E, JP Morgan, Platts, PREPA, Repsol, Fonterra (Dairy), Hamilton & Clark, Galway Capital and Spark Energy among others.

Dr Shekhar Shukla

Dr. Shukla joined the energy industry in June 1998 as a Quantitative Analyst. Since then, he has led several efforts in transaction structuring, risk management, and development of proprietary analysis tools to support marketing and trading operations. The positions he has held since joining the energy industry include:

• Vice President, Market and Portfolio Analytics
• Managing Director, Head of Risk Analytics, Bear Energy/Bear Stearns
• Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Constellation Power Source
• Managing Director of Pricing & Structuring at CMS Energy
• Director of Research & Analysis at Texaco Natural Gas
• Director of Structuring and Director of Research & Analysis at Suez Energy, NA

During this time, he has led efforts for analyzing and structuring transactions involving electricity, natural gas, natural gas liquids, and oil as well as assets associated with these commodities. During the years from 1986 to 1998, Dr. Shukla did research in Elementary Particle Physics at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. His research work is described in his publications. Dr. Shukla holds a B.Sc(Honours) and an M.Sc degree in Physics from the University of Delhi, and a Ph.D. degree in Elementary Particle Physics from Northwestern University. His Ph.D. thesis was based on his work at CERN (European Center for Nuclear Research). He has over 100 physics publications (alone and with coauthors), most in peer-reviewed journals.
